Iranian theater troupe to vie in Russia

The 2021 Ginger Theater Festival (Gingerfest) has selected Iranian play ‘Woyzeck’ to participate at the festival’s competition section.

Co-directed by Qasem Tangsirnejad and Mahsa Rahsepar, the play depicts the story of a German soldier who, entangled in the chaos of war, is abused by the people around him.

Among all the difficulties, a doctor starts doing some scientific experiments on the soldier.

The soldier whose name is Woyzeck is suffering because of poverty and social status differences.

Finally, the pressure he is tolerating leads him to kill his wife and commit suicide.

Tangsirnejad’s play will compete with 10 other plays from Russia, Italy, Spain, Iran, Egypt, Greece, India and Estonia.

The Gingerfest is an opportunity for people with different cultures to meet.

The festival hosts performances by children and adults.

The latest edition of the event is scheduled for April 9-13, 2021.
